The Three Pillars of Self-Protection at Sentinel Combatives
When it comes to defending yourself and your family, most programs offer watered-down techniques or a one-size-fits-all mindset. At Sentinel Combatives, our training is different. Our system is built on three core pillars—a fusion of real-world-tested martial systems and modern threat readiness.
These three pillars form the foundation of our entire program:
Krav Maga – The Foundation of Survival
Our primary training base comes from IKI (Israeli Krav International), a Krav Maga system that is realistic, direct, and designed to work under pressure. Krav Maga was developed by the Israeli Defense Forces for one reason: to end violence quickly.
At Sentinel Combatives, we focus on:
- Instinctive reactions under stress
- Simple, direct responses to strikes, grabs, chokes, and takedowns
- Scenario-based training for modern threats (carjackings, home invasions, weapon attacks)
Unlike traditional martial arts, IKI Krav Maga avoids forms or sports-based rules. It’s designed to be retained under stress, used by real people, and applicable to both urban and rural scenarios.
“Train for chaos, not choreography.” – Sentinel Combatives
Israeli Kickboxing – Power, Pressure, Precision
The second pillar of our program is Israeli Kickboxing, also sourced from IKI and integrated to complement our close-combat system. It provides students with the tools to strike effectively and control the fight.
Our approach combines:
- Western boxing mechanics (jab, cross, hook, uppercut)
- Israeli-style kicks that prioritize balance, power, and stability
- Tactical clinch work for control, off-balancing, and setup strikes
This isn’t point-sparring. You’re learning to strike hard, fast, and move with purpose, under the pressure of a real fight. We incorporate heavy bag drills, partner striking, and stress-based training evolutions that simulate real-world violence.
“In chaos, striking is your first language. Make every word count.”
Weapons Integration – Reality-Based Defense
The third pillar is what separates Sentinel Combatives from most martial arts schools: we train for real weapons threats. Whether it’s a knife, a firearm, or an improvised weapon, our students learn how to respond with speed, clarity, and confidence.
Weapons Integration includes:
- Edged Weapon Defense (TRICOM & PTTA-influenced)
- Firearms Readiness – Disarms, retention, and civilian carry tactics
- Improvised Weapons – Pens, belts, sticks, bags—your environment is your armory
- Transitional Training – Moving between empty hands and weapons under stress
Our weapons training is layered throughout your development, ensuring you can identify, control, and neutralize threats in the context of your surroundings.
“Weapons don’t change the fight—they expose your mindset.”
Bringing It All Together
These three components—Krav Maga, Israeli Kickboxing, and Weapons Integration—aren’t just styles. They’re disciplines, forged from battlefield experience and adapted for everyday people.
